Interview with Dr. Milind R. Agarwal, Founder & CEO, Quickwork on Integration, APIs and Automation.

Introduction about the Founder/CEO

I have two parallel career tracks – first one as an entrepreneur with an engineering degree from MIT Manipal (India) and an MBA from Michigan State University (USA) and the second one as a teacher and philosopher with a PhD from Mumbai University (India) on the Bhagavad Gita and Management. I have 27-years of business experience helping build and run family business of transportation and logistics, then as a founding executive of Gupshup a conversational AI company (which is now a unicorn) and currently as Founder and CEO of Quickwork.

Your Startup Introduction, Name of the Company, Headquarters, and Year of the establishment.

Quickwork Technologies Pvt. Ltd. was founded in October 2015 in Mumbai, India. Our office is located in Vile Parle East, Mumbai. Our team of 45 is a mix of experienced founders and young engineers and marketers who want to change the way integration and automation is done in this world.

How did you get the idea or concept for the startup?

The original seed idea of the startup in 2015 was to create a predictive performance management app in conversational format; the decision to pivot from a predictive performance management app to an integration platform came to me in 2018 as a deep insight when I discovered that our engineers had to spend many weeks of effort to integrate our app with various other apps for our customers. We decided to simplify the integration experience by making it do-it-yourself in drag-and-drop format and ended up creating our no code integration, API and workflow automation platform by investing about 2-years to engineer and build it.

What is innovation or unique about your startup or business?

Quickwork integration, API and automation platform works in ‘real-time’; this unique capability makes our platform very useful for enterprises with use-cases where they need transactions and messages to happen in real-time. For example, chatbots and IoT devices work seamlessly with other apps on Quickwork; similarly fintechs like building their automated workflows on Quickwork because they need their money flow transactions and related information to execute in real-time.

What was your mission and vision at the outset?

Our vision is to ‘democratise automation’ with our mission ‘to make automation easy, affordable, accessible and compliant’. We strive every day to make automation –

  • Easy – By making no code user interface and user experience easier, simpler and delightful for citizen developers with every updated release for our platform.
  • Affordable – By continuously striving to drive the unit transaction cost of automation to the lowest level possible, so that more businesses world-wide can afford to adopt automation.
  • Accessible – By making our platform available in real-time, in multiple languages, on-premise, on cloud and hybrid formats, so that it can be accessed by anyone anywhere in the world.
  • Compliant – By proactively implementing the best practices around information security and privacy policies and safeguards, so that our users feel comfortable and assured about accepting and adopting automation.

What service(s) or product(s) do you offer?

Our product is no code, enterprise-grade, real-time integration, API and automation platform offered in –

  • SaaS- format to enterprises to enable them to build automated workflows quickly and accelerate their digital transformation journeys,  and
  • Embeddable- format to enable app product companies to offer ready to use, automated workflows embedded in their product or portal thus enabling their end-users to stay in the same app product environment.
