Bioinnovators making revolution in blood testing by innovation.

Usually People check their blood group by the slide method, in which the person is pricked in the finger and a drop of blood is taken on the slide, then a particular amount of anti-sera is to add to detect the blood group. But unfortunately, there are some disadvantages.

To overcome all these problems This Startup came up with a solution to detect blood group in vivo using Biometric Blood Typing Device.

The team of startupsindia came up with new startup story which won the prize in the KrazyBee Hednxt 2018. Today with us we have the founder of the Bioinnovators Pranoti Datta Giram.

Can you give a brief about yourself and your team?

Yes, I am the student of REVA University Bangalore and co-founder of Bioinnovators. Right now, we have an innovation team with us. Once the idea transforms into the problem-solving and profit-making product, we will focus on to create other teams for the progress of our start-up.

What are the factors which influenced you to become an entrepreneur?

Great question! Scientists innovate a number of applicable products. But many times the innovations will fail the main reason is the lack of communication between product developer and customers. So that particular invention can be really astounding but, they remain limited to just paper publications.

Applied and commercial research must solve the issues of a society at large scale, only then will the innovation and efforts of the scientists will make it to 100% use for benefit of society.

I think the biggest factor is the opportunity. Innovating the product and being an entrepreneur comes with a lot of risks, but it also comes with a lot of potential rewards. And if a start-up is emerging with a fully new concept it will grow at a very fast rate.  A strong foundation and concept helped me in becoming an entrepreneur.

What is the problem you are solving with your startup?

A person should be aware of his/her blood group. People check their blood group by the slide method, in which the person is pricked in the finger and a drop of blood is taken on the slide, then a particular amount of anti-sera is to add to detect the blood group. But unfortunately, there are some disadvantages. They are;

1) Less sensitive

2) Drying up of the reaction mixture which can cause aggregation of cells giving false positive results.

3) Need to prick finger to get the blood sample.

4) By mistake, if the same needle is used leads to infection.

5) Expensive blood group kits are needed

So, to overcome all these problems we came up with a solution to detect blood group in vivo using Biometric Blood Typing Device. Now, we can see all the disadvantages of slide method had been converted to advantages of Biometric Blood Typing Device.

1) Needle-free

2) No risk of infection.

3) Automated.

4) Easy to use.

5) Can be used in medicals, colleges, schools etc.

6) No need of an expert technician.

7) No need for expensive blood group kit.

8) One-time investment.

How did your journey start towards your dream?

As I am from a small village, I know the real problems in society. The branch of science, especially the “Biotechnology” can help to change the situation in a very effective way. I am aware of the potential of science. I like to read about innovations, discoveries, and stories behind it.

How scientist got this idea, is this discovery accidental or is it a hypothesis. As I find pleasure in reading all sorts of scientific books I always try to find what is not invented and how we can contribute to the field of science and society. I grew up with scientific, business and social mindset. I like to solve a real problem through the innovations.

What is your startup about? What services/product you are providing for the customer?

My start-up is all about to innovate and commercialize the Biometric Blood Typing Device.

Did you face any challenges while starting the startup? How you overcome them?

Research and innovation always take time, to make an idea into a problem solving and profit-making product in time boundary was the biggest challenge and opportunity in front of me. I will successfully try to make it in a short period of time as I can. It will increase my potential exponentially and extend my extended limits for progress. Once the product is formed all will be easy to grow and work on how to reduce the price and add, additional features to the machine. I am sure that the additional features will make a revolution in medical testing.

How did you get to know about the KrazyBee Hednxt?

Reva University has always been encouraging students for holistic development. I got to know about the WPS office, KrazyBee and Hednxt startup fest 2018 from REVA University. The University curriculum mainly focuses on project-based learning.

Share your experiences in the KrazyBee Hednxt meet?

This has been a great experience for me as opportunities like these are very rare. KrazyBee and WPS have given a perfect platform for students to showcase their ideas and move forward at a much-accelerated rate. The panel members Mr. Danny Cheng, Marketing Director of Overseas Business, and Ms. Laura was curious to know our ideas and asked questions which were really helpful to developing start-up.

With the help of Hednxt startup fest 2018, I can pursue my Biometric Blood typing device, where individuals will be able to check their blood group without the painful and time-consuming procedure.

What are the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

Yes, people do have, but the thing is that you need to believe in yourself, and ignore what others say. Start-up is all about the teamwork and without misconceptions and without trust; no one can imagine progress in a startup. We all are very clear about the direction of progress. And hope to keep it straight till we succeed.

Can you  share your feedback and experience with WPS.

WPS Office is good software for students to make their academic documents and college assignments in an efficient way. I am using it for 2 years. I think everyone has some inspiring person in their life and some taglines? Who are they what is their role in your startup life?

Yes, thanks for asking this question. That person in my life is the Great scientist and 11th President of India, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam sir. The tagline is Vision 2020. The plan is described in a detailed form in the book India 2020. A Vision for the New Millennium by Kalam coauthored with Dr. Yash Rajan.

Kalam sir described the plan as follows: “Transforming the nation into a developed country, five areas in combination have been identified based on India’s core competence, natural resources and talented manpower for integrated action to double the growth rate of GDP and realize the Vision of Developed India”.
