So you just figured out how to make a new hairbrush that brushes hair far more effectively while trapping far fewer strands in the brush’s bristles. Your brand is innovative and hard to imitate. Therefore, you will have an easy time selling it, right? Ah, that’s where you’re dead wrong my friend! To the average ‘Joe’ customer out there your brand is just another hairbrush that he or she may not want to buy. Is there anything out there that will give your brand an advantage? There is and it’s in the form of digital marketing

Okay, so not all companies need to use digital marketing to sell their brands successfully. That said, most do. By now, you know that digital marketing is nothing but ‘selling stuff online!’ The mode and medium of communication (the Internet) may be different, but many of the principles are the same.

But you’d be making a huge mistake to think that digital marketing is similar to traditional marketing because it’s not my dear friend! There is one key characteristic to digital marketing and that is that it’s information-centered. What that means is that you’ll need a website with lots of informative content that’s interesting, engaging, and easy to read and understand. Above all, and this is the most important factor, it must offer the customer what he or she wants/needs to know about your new hairbrush.

Oh, and advertising in various social media platforms like Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram wouldn’t hurt either. This is social media marketing. If you guessed that social media marketing is an integral part of digital marketing, congrats! You’re right about the money!

But there are other reasons why you need to use digital marketing

There are other reasons why your new company and lots of other companies (new and established) need to use digital marketing. Do you know what it is? Well, the answer lies in the computer and broadband/wireless connectivity. Did you know that most people have access to a computer and the Internet? Well, even if they don’t have a computer, even the poorest of people have access to some sort of a smartphone or digital device. It should be common knowledge that you can easily access the World Wide Web (WWW) from those!

Okay, so it’s cool that most people around the world have access to the net! How exactly will that help you out? Well, you can tap into the vast global market. If you were to do research on the hairbrush industry you’d find that there is a growing demand for these accessories. There is also a growing global middle class (especially in developing nations.) So what does that mean for you? Well, it means that there are more people out there who have never used a hairbrush before who are willing to pay big money for one if they’re marketed to correctly!

Of course, it does help if you tend to focus your digital marketing efforts, campaigns, plans, and strategies on people you know want and need your brand. You’re wasting your hard-earned money and time otherwise! And do you know something? Digital marketing has the resources that will let you identify who those people are before you start creating your digital marketing strategies! In case you’re wondering, there are a lot of websites out there that will give you lots of information about growth and trends in the global and regional hairbrush markets!

Oh, and you’ll be saving a  bundle. In the past, if you wanted to market your hairbrush you’d have to pay top dollar for it. It was a long process too. You had to email out a long and persuasive pitch along with your marketing details to the senior journalist of major print publications in your area. Since these professionals were (and still are) busy, there was no guarantee that they would even open your email pitch, much less publish your marketing campaign.

But hey, those days are over! If you want to promote your brand now all you need is the net and the ability to write great content both on your blog/website and on various social media platforms. The customers will eventually come to you if you do it right! Now, that’s a huge saving in terms of money since organic social media marketing is free and it costs a fraction to advertise on a website what it would in a print publication!

Companies are finding out that they can target more people and spend less doing so by doing digital marketing. Their customers are likely to be far more responsive since most people read content online and not in print publications anymore!
