Startup Moxion to get backing from Amazon, Microsoft

Green is the mantra for many tech, climate startups to prepare for the coming future. Moxion startup is clear of its green objective as it aims to replace the current generation of diesel-run generators with zero-emission electric batteries.

Though some bigger companies are offering small battery-powered units in addition to larger diesel engines, California-based startup Moxion is totally focused on zero-emission. The startup is in the process of building mobile energy storage technology that will be high powered and can be used anywhere. In fact, the startup is building all its technology in house and takes pride in the fact.

One can either buy or rent Moxion’s units making it a convenient plan for customers. Also, the batteries are much cheaper to maintain than the traditional diesel ones.

However, the big news is that Amazon and Microsoft are both invested in backing the zero-emission, quiet technology of Moxion. Already, Amazon has leased two units of Moxion for two of its video productions, a movie and a streaming series. Moxion generators will be used to power the equipment used during the shoots.

Apart from Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund, Moxion is also being powered by Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund. Other backers include Energy Impact Partners, Enterprise Holdings, Sunbelt Rentals and Tamarack Global. In all, Moxion now boasts of $110 million.
