India’s top online food delivery platform Swiggy acquired AI startup Kint.io which is based out in Bangalore. The amount for the acquisition is yet to be revealed by both the companies. Kint.io team will join Swiggy to boost its computer vision technology and superior consumer experience.

Kint.io was founded in 2014 by Pavithra Solai Jawahar and Jagannathan Veeraraghavan. The AI startup will augment the work Swiggy has been doing in AI, machine learning, and big data as it looks to improve discovery for consumers and enable faster more efficient deliveries.

Last year, Swiggy hired Dale Vaz as Head of Engineering to help build AI-driven systems to aid hyperlocal discovery and on-demand delivery. It is a greater opportunity for Swiggy to show scale and address a-billion-people problems through AI. Kint.io is looking forward to interesting innings with Swiggy.

In the year 2017, it acquired another online food delivery startup called 48East which is based out in Bangalore. The next is the acquisition of Scootsy which is also an on-demand delivery startup, which took place in the year 2018 for INR 50 Cr.

“At the same time 2017 Kint.io had a problem like lack of data, cultural biases, inability to adapt to our diversity, and all these things pulled us back when it comes to applying AI to India-based problems, effectively. This is where Swiggy left us stumped, and now we were impressed by the team’s razor-focussed mindset to bring ingenious solutions for problems unique to India,” said Jawahar, co-founder of Kint.io.
