Big Basket Acquires Agrima Infotech – A Kerala-Based Startup

New Delhi: On Saturday, Tata Group-owned retailer Big Basket made an announcement about acquiring the enterprise business unit of a deep-tech company Agrima Infotech. This acquirement was made in a bid to revolutionize offline retail.

In the upcoming days Big Basket is looking forward to implementing Kochi-based startup Agrima Infotech’s unique customer vision technology platform, Psyight, at the self-checkout counters of the former’s retail stores.

Created by Anoop Balakrishnan, Arun Ravi and Nikhil Dharman under Agrima Infotech, Psyight aids in identifying all Indian fruits and vegetables uniquely from an image. All this is done without using barcodes.

As per Agrima Infotech’s Co-Founder and CEO Balakrishnan, the startup joining hands with Big Basket will redefine the offline shopping experience in the country.
