Here is another good news for Indian startups and those who are aspiring to become an entrepreneur. On Jul 06 2022, Google announced Startup School India initiative. The Startup School initiative by Google is a much welcome step. This initiative aims to support 10,000 startups in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities to become startup hubs.
According to Google, a post-Startup School is a series of guided online pieces of training designed to equip early-stage startup founders with the tools, products, and knowledge that growing companies need.
Over the course of nine weeks, Startup School in India aims to provide education on growth, tech, and product, covering aspects including setting OKRs, making technical hires, preparing a data pipeline, and getting started with Google products—all delivered live by Google experts, unicorn founders, and VCs.
The programme starts from Jul 06 –Sep 15, the curriculum is broken down into modules such as 1) Jul 06- Jul 07 Product and Design Strategy, 2) Jul 20- Aug 04- Tech Strategy, 3) Aug 24- Sep 21 Marketing Strategy, 4) Jul 13- Sep15 Success and leadership.
The programme will be held virtually; it will include fireside chats between Google leaders and collaborators, leaders from business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) e-commerce, social media and networking, job search, and language, fintech, and other such areas.
This very initiative by Google is aimed at enabling small city startups (Tier 2 and Tier 3) to address obstacles often faced by them. Google has recognized many gaps and challenges that the startup ecosystem faces, like many startups fail within a short span of time due to various reasons like unmanaged cash burn, flawed demand assessment, ineffective feedback loops, or lack of leadership- according to a Google blog post.
As per Google: “Startup School India – a Google for Startups initiative is designed to do precisely that as we align our efforts to support this expansion,”.
