Comprehensive Training on IP Laws and Procedures Conducted by Guru Nanak Institutions’ IPFC for MSMEs

Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus – Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (IPFC) for MSMEs conducted a comprehensive training session on “IP laws, procedures, and customer service for the IP professionals and support staff of IPFC” on 28.12.2024.  The session featured Mr. Vijay Kumar Makyam, a distinguished Member of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC) in Medak at Sangareddy, who served as the resource person.

During the training, Mr. Vijay Kumar addressed several key topics, including the components of patents, the intricacies of IP laws, patent filing procedures, trademarks, and the significance of geographical indications (GIs). He highlighted the importance of GIs and shared several success stories that demonstrated their practical value and impact.

The session also featured an interactive Q&A segment, providing participants with the opportunity to directly engage with Mr. Vijay Kumar, ask questions related to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), and discuss various legal procedures. The training attracted around 85 senior faculty members and lasted for four hours, fostering a collaborative and insightful learning environment for all attendees.

Sardar Gagandeep Singh Kohli, Chancellor of Guru Nanak University and Vice Chairman of Guru Nanak Institutions, strongly advocated for the IPFC team to prioritize intellectual property (IP) filings for startups and MSMEs, emphasizing the critical role of technology transfer in driving innovation. Dr. H.S. Saini, Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak University and Managing Director of Guru Nanak Institutions, lauded the IPFC team for orchestrating a highly insightful and impactful training session.

Dr. S. Sreenadha Reddy, Director of Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus, also addressed the distinguished gathering on this momentous occasion.

Dr. S.V. Ranganayakulu, Dean of R&D, articulated the core objectives of the workshop. Dr. Chandragupta Mouryan, Asst.Dean(R&D) warmly welcomed the participants, and Dr. Vikas Maheswari, Asst.Dean(R&D)  delivered the closing vote of thanks. Dr. Gomathi Periyaswami, member of the IPFC team, expertly coordinated the arrangements.
