“Age is no barrier when it comes to travel” Say’s 13 years old travel blogger Rainna Goel.

Rainna Goel

At the age of 13 most childrens spent time on playing games and watching cartoons. But Rainna Goel at age of 13 she started a travel blog and gained a lot of followers through her blog, StartupsIndia recently interviewed her about  her Blogging journey.

Hi Rainna Goel, can you give a brief about yourself ?

Well known as a teenage travel blogger and admin at ‘Travels A La Carte’, I Rainna Goel at the age of 13 an 8th grader MYP, IB student at Jamnabai Narsee International School, Mumbai (India). I live in a joint family, my father is a businessman, my mother a fashion designer and my younger brother studying in the same school. My short term goal is to grow my career as a content writer and long-term goal is to seek education from an Ivy League University. My strengths are my consistent focus, dedication and constant support from my family.

You are the youngest person whom I am interviewing. What are the factors which influenced you to start TravelsALaCarte?

Thank you startupsindia.in, and Mr.Devender for this interview opportunity and this open platform for a startup like TravelsALaCarte, it indeed is an honor. TravelsALaCarte started with literally no experience nor any audience. A little ponder over time management for my summer holidays made me and my family brainstorm on the idea of travel blogging. Since I had already written 3 travel blogs from our past vacations I just had to refine and publish them, to begin with. With over 1000 pictures on my camera, all I had to do was share them on Instagram.

How did your journey start towards your dream?

It was all thanks to my parents that they inculcated the thought of blogging within me. We love traveling and I constantly maintained a travel log diary, recognizing my writing skills and interests very well it was their vision for my future. Right from the branding, to creating the logo further on to blogs, Instagram pictures, and twitter shares, the recognition and applaud kept my interest growing.

As I have interviewed many people in these 3 to 4months as of my experience initial journey is not so easy, and you are too young how did you manage it?

Selecting my domain name in itself was the toughest job. All travel related brand names and domains were already taken.  It took me 4 days of non-stop research to get the name ‘Travels A La Carte’ in the same format on all portals including WordPress, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook. It was all thanks to my dad that he made me aware of the importance of unique branding and having a personal web hosting domain.

It is not easy to maintain constant and multiple social media presence at the same time balancing your school work. I have received plenty of travel writing offers from big brands, which I still have to accept and work on. Currently, I’m my own boss and I work within my comfort zone.

Who are the motivators for you? Who supported you to start the blog?

My biggest motivators have been my parents else it’s not so easy for a 13-year-old like me to decide and pick my career direction. My follower base, friends and family have been major contributors for me to be persistent in pursuing my passion. Many other travel bloggers like @wheresmollie really motivate me.

What are the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

The biggest misconception that people have about me is that I’m shy whereas that’s not the fact; the truth is that I’m a deep thinker and am usually preoccupied with my own thoughts even when I’m with my bunch of close friends.

Brief about your blog?

‘Travels A La Carte’ started in the summer of 2018 and it showcases a series of travel experiences that infuse my flair for fun-filled globetrotting. My blogs are written with the intent to inspire and encourage various travelers. As a travel blogger, I am continuously penning down my travel diary yet capturing the moments of my life.

What are the upcoming plans from your end?

I have constant offers from other bloggers for tie-ups that are under consideration. Offers from fashion houses for content writing have been overwhelming. I’ve been lucky to receive much permanent blogging contracts offers from various companies. Since I’m not able to cater to all of them, am taking up one at a time.

I think everyone has some inspiring person in their life and some taglines? Who are they what is their role in your life?

“Age is no barrier when it comes to travel”

My most prominent role model is my mom because I see that she never gives up. She believes that the way of life has minor speed bumps through its way and one must look ahead and keep driving straight.

My mother is my pillar of strength and pushes me when things go out of control and support me in a way that I never give up. She is n’t a quitter and doesn’t want me to be one.

What your stack on the competition? Who are your competitors? How you are overcoming them?

Well given my age, I do not have any competitors. All those into travel blogging have been there for years and contribute to my inspiration and not competition. For me, I am my own competitor and I want me every next blog to be better than the previous one. I am working towards the betterment of my content with an increased focus towards reading and research.

What is your opinion on Startupsindia.in?

Startupsindia is indeed highly favorable and a genuine platform for showcasing start-ups. They have encouraged and motivated me in a large way by sharing my story. I have read many of their articles and these have been extremely impactful on a mind like mine.

What is your experience as a Blogger?

I had a story to tell and all I had to do is to make it worth reading for my audience. It is overwhelming when unknown people start liking, commenting or sharing your valuable content. I have also met a lot of new blogger friends and received many work opportunities from all corners of the world. The entire experience has been very exciting.

Let conclude our discussion anything you want to say for young India.

One should never neglect any opportunity for self-improvement. Always believe in yourself, work hard and be dedicated. Consistency and focus is the key to success, although one should always maintain the ability to take both success and failure in a balanced manner.
