Jio is planning optic submarine telecommunication.

For the first time in history, Jio has announced that it will be setting up the world’s largest fiber-optic submarine telecommunication network to place India at the center of the international network map. The company claims that these high-capacity and high-speed systems can provide up to 20Tbps over 16,000 km.

For this project, Jio is working with several global players and sub com, which is the world’s largest leader in undersea cable supply. The two cable projects on which the company will be working or are IAX(India Asia Xpress) and IEX(India Europe express). These projects will connect India to Singapore and India to the Middle East and Europe respectively.

It is expected that the service will be established by 2023 and it would come into play sometime around 2024. Reliance Jio says that it is the first time in the history of submarine telecommunications and this will help the company to grow several folds after launching its services in 2016. The company claims that implementing these initiatives during the pandemic is a challenge, but the pandemic has only accelerated the growth of digital transformation.

Jio understands there’s a necessity for high-performance global connectivity so that there could be a richer experience for both enterprises and consumers.
