FMCG Giant Emami Ltd has acquired a 30% stake in a start-up Cannis Lupus Services India for an undisclosed amount. Harsha V Agarwal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Emami said that the company will bring out a range of products that are ayurvedic and chemical-free for pets under the prowess of Cannis Lupus. It will provide ayurvedic solutions for common and seasonal diseases in pets, especially dogs.

He also added, that with rising disposable income, more people are keeping pets. Pet parents are also looking for the best treatments for the diseases suffered by their pet children, in the form of ayurvedic and herbal remedies. This enables the brand to offer unique Ayurvedic products for the well-being of the pets and meet the emerging consumer needs and aspirations.

Animesh Katiyar, founder, Cannis Lupus Services India said, “We are excited to have Emami Limited on board with us. I have closely been associated with pets for a long time and am extremely passionate about them. The mindset of people in India is changing fast from being just pet owners to pet parents and as a result, they are today more concerned about their pet children’s well-being. Animals in their natural habitat heal themselves with whatever is available in nature. This is a natural process. However, the products available in the market currently are full of toxic chemicals, which harm the pets in the long run.”

He added, “Fur Ball Story is our attempt to address this problem by providing Ayurvedic solutions for common ailments to house pets, especially dogs,”.

Emami is aiming to become the fast-growing pet care segment that provides an Ayurvedic range of solutions for ailments related to animals under the Cannis Lupus brand “Fur Ball Story”.
